Content description

Departing from non-published files kept at the Archives of the city of Geneva, the participants are invited to build narrations considering found information as much as its lacks. These are files coming from the Museum of Ethnography of Geneva, belonging to the fonds Georges Amoudruz, who during his lifetime collected on the subject of the Alps, about its costumes and geography, the imaginary as much as its objects. Different files will be worked collectively and they may activate searches within local collections or archives around Sierre. The Bibliothèque-Médiatèque of Sierre will be used as complementary source and visits to other local archives and libraries may be arranged, based on the group’s interests and project needs.

The participants will work in groups of research. The groups will construct from separate bunches of document and elaborate towards an event to happen in the last day, with a full program and open to public. On Thursday we will organize a collective lunch. Using various discursive tools, the final presentations will experiment narrating the Alps with images, reading and debating, negotiating between history and fiction, performing research in various ways.
